Tracy Davies
Tracy Davies joins McLeland Tennis Center following an extensive career as a High Performance Coach both nationally with the USTA High Performance Program, and internationally, with various National Associations around the world, including most recently, the South Africa Tennis Association.
With a passion in tennis that always been about developing the athlete to the highest potential, she has worked with some of the top international and US tennis players in the world. After finishing her playing career at the University of Tennessee/Knoxville and a Graduate Assistantship with the Women’s Program at Tennessee Tech University, she continued her coaching career with the United States Tennis Association focusing on high performance coaching and player development. Selected as the Player Development Director for the USTA Florida Section in 1992, she was responsible for overseeing both the development of the Florida section’s top players, as well as managing the promotion of the grass roots level of recreational tennis. Several of the United States current ATP and WTA professionals came through this system, including Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish, receiving USTA assistance with Area Training Centers, National Team Events, and supplemental coaching assistance.
In 1995, she then served as a National Coach for the USTA High Performance Program in Key Biscayne, Florida, where she worked with the top female players in the United States by overseeing  every aspect of their training environment, as well as, travelling nationally and internationally on the ITF World Junior Circuit and the WTA Tour. During this time, she Spent 4 years traveling specifically with players to the 14-Under Young Stars Tour in Europe and the 16-Under Italian/French circuit in Europe. Former US National Junior Champions Ansley Cargill (Atlanta, Georgia) and Melissa Middleton (Houston, Texas) won 7 of these international tournaments combined including the 16-Under Milan Compari Avenir and the Cadet Masters at La Baule. International players competing against the USTA at that time included former world #1’s Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters, Roger Federer, and Lleyton Hewitt.
Tracy then went on to become the private coach to former American WTA professional, Ansley Cargill, after leaving the USTA in 1998. For the next two years, she worked with Ansley who is a former #1 USTA 14, 16, and 18-Under Junior Champion, a former top-10 ITF World Junior, and a #1 NCAA Division 1 Ranked Player at Duke University. Ansley went on to receive a WTA Singles Ranking of top 80, and a Doubles Ranking of top 30. She worked privately with Tracy for these two years on all aspects of her game including technical, tactical, mental, and physical components.

In August 2000, Tracy married her husband, Karl Davies, a Southern Africa ITF Tennis Development Officer, and became a High Performance Coach for the South Africa Tennis Association’s National Centre in Pretoria, South Africa. She helped to promote the national center as the first international tennis academy in Africa through several player development initiatives that included recruiting twenty of the top players in South Africa during this period to develop from juniors to the professional level. She also served as a National Coach to South Africa’s top juniors with stints to the Junior Grand Slams as well as traveling with #1 South African Juniors, Christy Potgieter, Bianca Swanepoel, Hernus Pieters, and Mat Rossouw to WTA and ATP Events.

In 2006, Tracy was selected as an 18-Under Traveling Coach for the International Tennis Federation’s European A-Team for a two-month junior circuit in Italy, Belgium, Germany, France at Roland Garros, and culminating in England at Junior Wimbledon. She partnered with former WTA Tour Player, Roberta Burzaglhi, to work with 8 females that were ranked in the top twenty on the ITF World Junior Circuit. The team included current WTA professionals, Ksenia Milevskaya, Venise Chan, and Roxanne.

In January 2008, Tracy then went on to partner with current South African Davis and Fed Cup Captain and current top 10 ATP Tour Player, Jl de Jager, to form the elite South Africa Tennis Performance Academy in Pretoria, South Africa. The Academy specializes in providing a high-level tennis training environment by incorporating the additional components of Sports Psychology, Biokenetics, Sports Vision, Nutrition, and Movement Training for the top players in South Africa. Tracy had several #1 South Africa Juniors in the Academy, and in addition to promoting these players to the professional level, has helped to guide several current players to top NCAA Division 1 Schools including the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
Tracy is currently moving back to the US with her husband and one-year old twins.
